This article by Phil Cooke confirms what I have experienced with creating video for the online and mobile market. Attention spans are shorter online. You need to grab your audience early and keep the video interesting so people wont click away.

I would add to this statement by saying that I know quite a few people who surf away and continue listening to the audio, so make sure you keep your audio simple and self explanatory.
In the online space I try to make my videos run for between 1 and 3 minutes only, if more information needs to be delivered make multiple videos.
